First order claim: Taiwan is on average, better at math than El Salvador. Second order claim: Stereotypes affect the way we know a peice of information. Knowledge Question: Do stereotypes affect the way a knower understands a piece of information.
1st Order Claim: 1. According to the data graph on Gapminder.com, China has had the most suicides on record from 2002-2004. 2nd Order Claim: 1. Human scientific knowledge is derived from statistics and observations.
Knowledge Question: To what extent does information from statistical evidence imply that human scientific knowledge is certain?
First Order: - In 1955, Japanese people, ages 15-29, had the highest rates of suicide. Second Order: - Historical fact allows us to gain contextual knowledge. Knowledge Question: - To what extent is our interpretation of historical knowledge biased by language and, or emotion?
First order claim: Moldova is the country whose adults consume the most alcohol Second order claim: Our ethics will always lead us to being biased when we interpret these graphs. Knowledge question: To what extent can we question that these facts are indeed facts?
First order claim: The income per person in the U.S. is more expensive than the income per person in Japan. However, the life expectancy of Japanese are longer than the life expectancy of Americans.
Second order claim: Visualization of knowledge can sometimes convey more than written language.
Knowledge question: To what extend does visualization of knowledge help leaners?
1.) Qatar has the highest income per person and the highest literacy rates in adult females of any country as of 2010. 2.) Preconceived ideas lead to misconceptions about a country's standard of living. 3.) How does knowledge of a culture (indigenous knowledge system) change perceptions of a country's standard of living.
